Our objective is to assist in forming new relationships and exposing your work to a greater public audience. In the past, Open Studio Weekends have been great successes and lots of fun too. Our past tours had many visitors who spanned across multiple studios and we have continuously been recognized - see our storyline in the NY Daily News in October 2010 – CLICK HERE. Each year we continue to grow!
We also appreciate our wonderful sponsors whom have helped us promote our events. These include organizations such as BWAC Gallery, ArtMix Gallery, Frame it in Brooklyn, BoCoCa Arts Festival , The Comfort Inn Red Hook & TopStar Gallery (let us know if you are interested in being a local sponsor!)
We will provide the main publicity, posters and maps. In addition to our efforts to publish and post these in any and all local areas, websites and blogs (including but not limited to all major Brooklyn neighborhoods, NYC – Chelsea, Flat Iron, Village, Williamsburg Staten Island, Queens, etc.), we ask your help in taking our materials and posting in your favorite locations, send some to friends and relationships, posting the information on your websites, blogs, emails, etc. Our current distribution lists are now approximately 3000 people. All we need from you is your agreement to open your studio those days, your name(s), address with cross streets (so we can mark the map) and your medium.
The fee to participate is $35. per artist. If you are a gallery, shared art space, arts center, etc. with many artists (more than 4) and would like to participate, the fee is $140. (Studios with more than 4 artists can also take advantage of this price or can choose to pay individually).
Not directly in Red Hook or Carroll Gardens, but operate as an artist in the NY Metro area? Traditionally we have had artists, restaurants, local shops, etc. open up space to allow you to show your work (i.e. – last year Prudential and the builders from 136 Degraw street teamed up to allow us to host the tour as well as having our art on display for real estate open houses).
If you are interested in hosting an artist in your studio or shared space, please let us know. As we receive your interest, we will look for new locations – there is one very large location in the works as we speak!
We hope you will open your studio on Saturday, October 8 and Sunday October 9 (one day is fine to) to show the community your artwork. Sign Up Deadline to appear on the printed materials is September 25 ; however you can choose to participate right up to the day before the event and you will be included in the online version of the map. Many visitors will print out or use iPads / iPhones for the most recent map just before the event.
Payment can be made via check or credit card (call if paying by credit card – we may have a payment option on the website shortly). If paying by check, please mail to:
