Brooklyn Studio Tours is pleased to announce our Spring Open Studio Tour in Red Hook & Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn on Saturday, May 22 & Sunday, May 23 from 12PM until 6 PM.
Our objective is to assist in forming new relationships and exposing your work to a greater public audience. In the past, Open Studio Weekends have been great successes and lots of fun too. Our May 2009 tour had many visitors who spanned across multiple studios. We even had a visit from the Appalachian Mountain club! Pair that with the Vespa convention on Hicks street and the weekend was filled with plenty of art, action and fun!
We will provide the main publicity, posters and maps. In addition to our efforts to publish and post these in any and all local areas, websites and blogs (including but not limited to all major Brooklyn neighborhoods, NYC – Chelsea, Flat Iron, Village, etc.), we ask your help in taking our materials and posting in your favorite locations, send some to friends and relationships, posting the information on your websites, blogs, emails, etc. Our current distribution lists are now well over 2000 people. All we need from you is your agreement to open your studio those days, your name(s), address with cross streets (so we can mark the map) and your medium.
The fee to participate is $35. per artist. If you are interested in hosting an artist in your studio or shared space, please let us know. Traditionally we received interest from local artists outside the immediate Red Hook and Carroll Gardens area who want to participate.
NEW THIS YEAR! This year we want to provide you with your own online gallery where your art will be posted for the public to browse and even purchase if you so choose! Your entrance into the tour qualifies you for posting as many different pieces of art, photography, etc. as you want. The online gallery will be up well before the show as the public will be checking our website for information and the tour map. It will remain online after the tour weekend is complete as a showcase of community of artists and their work. Please contact us for more details in the interim as we are setting the site up (expected to be live early April).
We hope that you open your studio Saturday, May 22 & Sunday, May 23 (one day is fine to) to show the community your artwork. Sign Up Deadline is Sunday, May 9 (for print version of map & flyer). Final signup with update web map & flyer is Tuesday, May 18 (NOTE: The tour fee is $50 past May 9).

The Red Hook & Carroll Gardens Artists Open Studio Tour is right around the corner, taking place on Saturday, May 22 & Sunday, May 23 from 12PM – 6PM. Pick up your tour map and look through our artist’s works in the virtual online gallery at http://brooklynstudiotours.com – Many of the works will be listed for sale directly on the website or can be inquired about if you or a friend may be interested.
For artists in the Red Hook or Carroll Gardens area, and for those who live outside the area but would like to showcase work, you can sign-up right until the last day. You will be added as a point on the map and on the website. Entry fee for your studio is $35. / artist. One of our participating galleries, TopStar Gallery – http://topstargallery.com , still has space at 136 Degraw Street. Entry fee to participate this way is $85. Your fee covers you to display your work on Saturday and Sunday; and also allows you to submit images to our online gallery which will stay up the rest of the year. This supplies you with continued exposure and hopefully to some sales. Artists who signup at the TopStar Gallery site will have additional exposure the day of the Opening Party (most likely on Wednesday, May 19).
